What is DNN?
DotNetNuke (DNN) is an open source Content Management and Portal System/Framework using Microsoft's .NET technology and MS SQL.
What's so great about DNN?
DNN offers Individuals and businesses alike the opportunity to have full featured websites with advanced components at a fraction of the time and cost compared to traditional methods. DNN comes standard with an assortment of business and commercial components (modules) as well as the ability to purchase and install prebuilt components from DNN's vast network of supporters.
Does DNN have any page or user count limitations?
DNN stores all of it's data inside of a MS SQL database, so theoretically, given a large enough server environment, you could have millions of pages/modules/users/roles, however in actual practice, there is a limit of 32767 for each. This is a limitation of using the .Net Integer type for the ID of each of the objects.
What version of DNN do you recommend?
Although the latest version of DNN is 5.0, we recommend using 4.9.3 until 5.0 has had time to become a stable release.
What is a Skin?
A "Skin" is a component of DNN that produces the look and feel of a page. A site can have several skins that can be used on one or more pages. A skin also outlines where modules (content) can be placed in what are called "panes".
What is a Module?
A "Module" is a compoent that defines a content or feature concept such as a Forum, Blog, FAQ, Survey, and much more. DNN comes we a standard set of modules, but others can be purchased and installed.
What is the Difference between Core and Third Party Modules?
Core modules come with a DNN installation by default. Third Party modules are not affilited with the DotNetNuke Corp. They are developed by external businesses usually forprofit. They can be installed in a DNN instance.
What is a Container?
A "Container" wraps around module content displaying additional graphics and access to module options.
Will my application integrate with DNN?
We have integrated with many third party applications and databases, including iMIS, SalesForce, Qualys, and numerous others. To determine if your application can be integrated with DNN, please contact us.
What is your experience in upgrading DNN versions?
We have upgraded numerous DNN sites from as early as version 2.0 to version 4.9.1
Is DNN W3C compliant?
Because of standards issues present in DNN’s core at this time, the varying nature of Third Party modules, and the ability of editors or administrators to add non-compliant content, it may not be possible for a DNN site to be fully standards compliant. However, i2Integration strives to ensure that all new development adheres to W3C standards using tools from the W3C, as well as browser based development tools.
